Vicenza
2003-2004
The project foresees the complete re-organisation of the daytime living area of a home found in a historical building situated in Vicenza.Key to the works is the staircase and landing, which give access to the sleeping quarters on the upper floor. Reinterpreted as an article of furniture, it is characterised by minimalist sculptural forms, adorned with high quality materials such as ebony, slate, and sanded glass illuminated by lights in fibre optics. This tactile quality of the use of various materials is revisited in the upholstery of a grand sofa. While the colour remains the same, different cloths have been employed. A few pieces of classic designer furniture (armchair and footrest “Barcelona” by Mies van der Rohe, a crystal table by Carlo Scarpa) combine with made-to-measure furniture and ethnic craftwork.
